Former Canadian Football League Player Inoke Breckterfield Moves To Webe State
Weber State's football program made staffing moves Wednesday involving two former Oregon State football players.
Jake Cookus, who started at Roseburg High before walking on with the Beavers and intercepting Oregon's Joey Harrington three times in the 2000 Civil War, had been coaching cornerbacks for the Wildcats the past four seasons. He will now be co-defensive coordinator and oversee safeties.
Inoke Breckterfield, a native Honolulu who in 1998 was a first-team all-Pacific-10 Conference and third-team All-American selection as a Beavers' defensive lineman, has been hired to coach the same position in Ogden. He worked the past two years on Mike Riley's staff as a graduate assistant for defense.
"Inoke was an outstanding linemen at Oregon State and in the Canadian Football League, so he knows what it takes to be success," Wildcats coach Ron McBride said. "He's been helping at Oregon State for the past couple of years and prepared himself to become a full-time coach. He's got a great personality and positive attitude. He will be a real key for us for our recruiting efforts especially in Hawaii."
