CFL Magazine

Launching in Spring 2005, The Official CFL Magazine will have in-depth coverage of the CFL, including the Hall of Fame, draft, pre-season and playoff coverage, college and university prospects and much more! The Official CFL Magazine will also feature contributors Glen Suitor (TSN), Darren Flutie (CBC) and radio broadcaster Bryan Hall, in addition to regular national football columnists such as Darrell Davis, Don Brennan, Perry Lefko, Jim Bender, Lowell Ullrich and Rick Matsumoto.

Three young key players to the future of the Alouettes’ organization have decided to stay in Montreal for a few more seasons. General Manager Jim Popp is thrilled to announce that Sylvain Girard, Marc Megna and Patrick Dorvélus have all renewed their deals with the Alouettes.
‘’Sylvain, Marc and Patrick are three impact players who have bright futures in front of them,’’ said Jim Popp. “We are very pleased to be able to count on their services for several more years to come.”
Despite having played only nine games in 2004 because of a shoulder injury suffered in a pre-season game, Saguenay-born receiver Sylvain Girard had the best season of his CFL career. He caught 31 passes for 659 yards and two touchdowns while becoming one of the Alouettes’ most threatening long-play receivers. He has signed a two-year contract plus an option.
Marc Megna also played great despite missing close to half of the 2004 season. He made 33 defensive tackles and five tackles for losses in just 10 games before tearing a ligament in his knee in a game against the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg. Megna has signed for two years plus an option and will be ready to get back to action at training camp next spring.
Montrealer Patrick Dorvélus was the Alouettes’ first pick in the 2002 draft. The young linebacker, who won the Grey Cup in his first CFL season, tore his Achilles tendon on July 24, 2003, before making a remarkable recovery in time for the 2004 season. He finished second year with the Alouettes with 16 special team tackles. The 27-year-old signed a one-year deal plus an option.
