Canadian Football League Grey Cup tickets moving fast
WINNIPEG, MB - With nearly eight months to go until the 2006 GREY CUP, optimism reigns supreme in the land of the Blue & Gold as football-hungry fans snap up tickets for the big game.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced today that more than 22,500 tickets have already been sold for the 94th Grey Cup, to be played Nov. 19, 2006 at Canad Inns Stadium in Winnipeg.
That means that approximately half of the 45,000 seats for this year's Grey Cup championship have already been scooped up. Individual Grey Cup tickets went on sale to the general public this past Saturday.
"We are extremely pleased by the response of football fans here in Manitoba and in the rest of the country to the fact Winnipeg is playing host to the biggest sporting event in the country," said Bombers President and CEO Lyle Bauer.
"The fact that 50 per cent of tickets for the 2006 Grey Cup have already been sold is terrific news, for both the Winnipeg Football Club and the CFL, and is well ahead of our initial projections.
"Our advice to football fans is to get your Grey Cup seat now before someone else does."
Grey Cup excitement has also had a significant impact on the sale of Winnipeg Blue Bomber season tickets. To date, more than 1,000 new subscribers have purchased 2006 season tickets.
