Bombers Re-Sign QB From 2007 Canadian Football League Grey Cup Game

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have agreed to terms on a new contract with quarterback Ryan Dinwiddie.
The 27-year-old from Elk Grove, Calif., dressed in all 18 regular season games last season as a backup to Kevin Glenn. Dinwiddie made his first CFL start in the Grey Cup game after Glenn went down with an injury in the East Division final.
Dinwiddie completed 15-of-33 passes for 225 yards and one touchdown in a 23-19 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Toronto. His third interception of the game came in the final minute and snuffed out a possible winning drive.
In the regular season, Dinwiddie completed 17-of-24 passes for 175 yards.
"Ryan is already familiar with our personnel and our coaching staff, so it was important for us to ensure he remain part of this organization," Bombers GM Brendan Taman said in a release Tuesday.
"I think he proved last season that he has the skills and the mindset to be a CFL quarterback. The hope now is that he will continue to build on the poise and leadership skills he displayed last season, especially in the Grey Cup."
Dinwiddie, a Boise State product, originally joined the Blue Bombers as a free agent on Aug. 18, 2006.
