Canadian Football League Players Of The Week

The Canadian Football League (CFL) announced today the Rogers Players of Week for Week #2. Rogers Players of the Week are selected for on-field excellence by members of the Canadian football broadcasters. Offensive Player of the Week QB – Kerry Joseph – Saskatchewan Roughriders Calgary Stampeders 8 @ Edmonton Eskimos 49 Highlights / Key Stats: Kerry Joseph completed 17 of 29 passes for 244 yards, one interception and four touchdowns as the Saskatchewan Roughriders defeated the Calgary Stampeders 49-8 at Mosaic Stadium. Joseph added three carries for 34 yards. Runner Up WR – D.J. Flick – Saskatchewan Roughriders Defensive Player of the Week DE – Gavin Walls – Winnipeg Blue Bombers Montreal Alouettes 23 @ Winnipeg Blue Bombers 32 Highlights / Key Stats: In a 32-23 victory over the Montreal Alouettes, Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive end Gavin Walls recorded five tackles, including two quarterback sacks, and returned one fumble for five yards. Runner Up DL – John Chick– Saskatchewan Roughriders Special Teams Player of the Week S – Barron Miles – B.C. Lions Edmonton Eskimos 9 @ B.C. Lions 29 Highlights / Key Stats: BC Lions safety Barron Miles narrowly missed registering his second blocked punt in just his second of the season. Miles partially blocked a Sean Fleming punt in Edmonton territory resulting in great field position that helped setup a BC touchdown. Runner Up S – Greg Bearman – Winnipeg Blue Bombers LB – Maurice Lloyd – Saskatchewan Roughriders Canadian Player of the Week DE – Brent Johnson – B.C. Lions Edmonton Eskimos 9 @ B.C. Lions 29 Highlights / Key Stats: Lions’ defensive end Brent Johnson recorded his second multiple sack game this season as he recorded three tackles, including two quarterback sacks, against the Eskimos on Friday night.
