Canadian Football League player calls it a career

Calgary Stampeders running back Scott Deibert has retired after an eight-year CFL career.
Deibert recorded eight carries for 21 yards and two special teams tackles in 2005. He completes his CFL career with 103 carries for 503 yards and seven touchdowns in 116 games with Edmonton, Winnipeg and Calgary. He also added 28 receptions for 303 yards and one TD and won a Grey Cup title with the Stamps in 2001.
"It truly was a pleasure to be a part of the Stampeder organization," Deibert said Thursday in a release. "The feeling of playing in front of CFL fans, especially those in Calgary, was a tremendous experience and one I will always treasure."
Deibert, a native of Moose Jaw, Sask., said he's looking forward to focusing on his job at Alberta Tubular Products and spending time with his wife Krista and daughter Jayne.
"I'm very proud of Scott's career and what he has accomplished," said Tom Higgins, the team's senior vice-president of football operations and head coach. "Having followed him from the beginning, he has been a major contributor both on and off the field. He leaves the game a winner and a true professional."
